Living Hope vC

Long-term investing with heart and soul

We believe in a new way of stewardship investing that provides much more than only a decent financial return

What’s in a name?

Investing in startups and scale-ups can be done very opportunistically, money driven and short term. We like to invest differently, in a meaningful way. Long term. Holistic. Together. Supporting the mental journey of founders and investors. Creating together an inheritance that will not perish, spoil or fade.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.”
1 Peter 1 : 3,4

Fourfold Return

We believe in a Fourfold Return.

Let’s define the return we are trying to achieve.

15% Target Net IRR on total invested amount. We invest in the most promising Tech startups and scale-ups in Europe in seed and growth equity.

A spiritual return, means a return where founders and their companies reflect the christian values of faith, hope, love, compassion, joy, truth, grace and justice and bring them into action in a meaningful and reasonable way.

We would like to contribute to social cohesion, by focusing on businesses with restorative capacity, run by entrepreneurs with a passion to build bridges and bring people together.

We focus on the long term. We believe in patient capital, in long lasting relationships, in a creation we should care for, in a society where it is vital to seek common ground and create mutual understanding.

Our Concept

What is a 360° fund approach?

A 360° fund combines investing with a broader perspective on the world and on what is needed. You know what they say: it takes a village to raise a child. In the same way, we believe it takes a community – and a lot of different perspectives – to build a meaningful company.

That’s why, we are building on a European network of investors, advisors and ambassadors with a wide range of different backgrounds. Philosophers, economists, artists, theologians, social entrepreneurs, industry leaders, all are welcome to join our movement to create a fourfold return and to rethink investing.

Leen de Bruyne

Leen started his first business when he was 23 years old. Ten years later, it was sold to private equity.

After that, he began investing in several startups as an angel investor. He also started a consulting boutique to help startups.
In the meantime, he was actively involved in supporting several charities with strategy and organizational development.

In 2022, he founded Living Hope VC, a new concept with an integrated vision on investing, stewardship, community, and philanthropy.
Think things through. Make it happen. Get things done. That is his motivation.

In 2024, his first book, Building a Startup Without Going Crazy, was published—a deeply personal book aimed at supporting the mental health of founders.

Our Team

Meet our team

Our team, including our actively involved advisors, has a wealth of experience in building and exiting companies, VC investing, due diligence, value creation, community building and founder support. With different nationalities and backgrounds, we aim to give our founders, companies and partners the best we can!

Investment Criteria

How do we make invest decisions?

Here are our investment criteria:

  1. We invest in startups (Seed) and scale-ups (Growth).
  2. We expand our portfolio by providing growth capital to companies and through secondaries, including buying out founders and angels. A combination of both is also possible.
  3. We like high-impact companies on a sustainable path to profitability (Zebras) as much as we do like moonshots (Unicorns).
  4. We invest in teams.
  5. We have a preference for second-time founders but do not exclude first-time founders.
  6. We highly value companies with strong traction.
  7. We predominantly invest in tech and tech-enabled companies. In any case, a company must be able to protect its position over time by having a defensible moat.
  8. We invest only in companies with their headquarters in Europe, although business operations can be global.
  9. We may also invest strategically in startup hubs, such as venture studios and accelerators in Europe.
  10. We have a special interest in Health Tech, Clean Tech, Food Tech and Robotics
